Diego Luna
is an internationally acclaimed actor, director and producer whose work over the past two decades—in his native Mexico, in Hollywood, and globally—has cemented him as one of his generation’s most influential artists. Luna stars in and executive produces the celebrated Disney+ series, Andor, a character reprised from the rebel spy he portrayed in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. For his performance in the show’s first season, he received Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Actor in a Drama Series; and as a producer, he won a Peabody Award. Most recently, Luna also received a Golden Globe nomination for his role in Searchlight TV and Hulu’s boxing limited series, La Máquina, which follows an aging boxer in search of one last title shot. Next, he is starring opposite Jennifer Lopez in the musical drama Kiss of The Spider Woman, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year.

In 2018, Luna co-founded the production company, La Corriente del Golfo, with friend and collaborator Gael García Bernal, where they develop and produce film, television, theater and podcasts. The company is named after the Gulf Stream, evoking the Gulf of Mexico as it flows to the North Atlantic, reflecting the duo’s aim to bring Mexican stories and talent to the world at large. Under this collaboration, Luna recently executive produced the documentary State of Silence, which is now streaming on Netflix. The film follows the lives of journalists in Mexico who have become targets of repression for exposing the reality in their communities. This portrayal underscores how press freedoms remain under siege and require urgent worldwide attention.

Luna was introduced to worldwide audiences with his starring role in the 2001 award-winning epic, Y Tu Mamá También. In 2014, Luna made his English language directorial feature debut with Cesar Chavez, a film celebrating the Latino civil rights icon.
